Harnessing solar power

The increasing deployment of cellular networks has brought two issues to the forefront: the energy cost of running these networks and suitable provision of back-up power. Adding solar power panels to cellular base stations is one potential solution to these issues.

Griptel is currently developing solutions together with Telia to mount solar panels on base stations to reduce electricity use and provide back-up power.

Griptel can provide custom-made mounting solutions that can enable safe and cost-efficient installation of solar power panels in close proximity to 4G and 5G antennas installed onto towers, rooftops or walls of buildings.
