The mission was clear yet challenging: to install 5G antennas on top of a factory chimney without compromising its structural integrity. This required a highly innovative approach to ensure both stability and security at such a high and constrained location. Together with Eltel Networks, a leader in technical services for critical infrastructure, Griptel successfully completed this standout project in Jessheim, Norway.
Solution
Griptel took part in the project by engineering custom steel rings with a diameter of 2.1 meters to securely encircle the chimney. These rings provided a new, stable foundation to support the steel pipes carrying the radio and antenna equipment, while ensuring that the existing structure remained intact and undisturbed. Griptel also supplied a selection of other steel mounting products from its extensive portfolio to complete the installation.
Result
The custom-engineered steel products fully met the site’s requirements, offering a secure and durable mounting solution that preserved the structural integrity of the factory’s chimney while enabling a successful 5G installation.
